(Sr.) Research Associate

Headquartered in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, Tagworks Pharmaceuticals is a dynamic biotech company with strong backing from prominent US and European investors. Specializing in proprietary in vivo click chemistry, Tagworks is committed to improving the effectiveness and reducing the toxicity of systemic cancer treatments. Operating at the Radboud University Medical Center, Tagworks pioneers unique approaches towards antibody-drug conjugates, prodrugs, and targeted radiotherapeutics through its "Click-to-Release'' platform, rooted in Nobel Prize-winning research. To further strengthen the organization, we are looking for a (Sr.) Research Associate.

The position
As (Sr.) Research Associate you are part of a team of Scientists and Research Associates with whom you closely collaborate. The focus of the position is to develop and evaluate new click-cleavable bioconjugates (based on antibodies, small proteins, peptides) with the aim to develop more effective cancer treatments. You strengthen the team with your experience in the field of protein development, functionalization, purification and characterization. Your activities range from chemical protein modification, analysis, purification by chromatography to protein binding kinetics and other biochemical analysis methods. Additionally, you will develop and run in vitro and in vivo assays to test the efficacy of the new bioconjugates.  You also provide support to other lab activities such as material compatibility studies. You use your knowledge of safety and lab procedures to ensure that our laboratory operations run smoothly. You will perform your work within a small team in a growing laboratory environment with state of the art lab equipment. You document your lab work accurately and support the writing of protocols and SOPs. You contribute to advancing Tagworks’ pipeline of next generation therapeutics and to educate and help your colleagues.

The requirements
You have a BSc or MSc in biochemistry or a related life science area in which biochemistry is a focus, with a minimum of 3 years work experience in either biotech/pharma or at CROs. You have hands-on experience with bioconjugations (e.g. protein/peptide functionalization), purification (e.g. by centrifugation, dialysis, size exclusion, affinity chromatography) and characterization of biomolecules (e.g. by spectroscopy, CE-SDS/SDS-PAGE, HPLC, ELISA, western blotting, immunoprecipitation). You are familiar with bioassays for in vitro/in vivo testing of biomolecules (e.g. cell cytotoxicity assays, or in vivo biodistribution assay, etc) and software applications for data analysis like GraphPad Prism. Experience with antibody-drug conjugates, protein expression techniques and/or click-chemistry is favorable. You are well-organized and can handle projects in parallel. You are service-oriented and you conduct your work with precision and accuracy. You have excellent communication skills, including written and oral working proficiency in English, and have a collaborative mindset when working with research partners and/or CROs. You are familiar with maintaining a quality system, which includes adhering to procedures and documenting results. You are able to work according to tight timelines while keeping your flexibility.

The offer
You will join a group of passionate and very skilled professionals working towards a common goal. We offer a set of attractive and competitive benefits, recognizing and rewarding our talented and motivated employees.

This vacancy is limited to European Union residents.
